We have recently strengthened the team here at Clyde Marine Recruiment. Natalie Kriek has joined us an On-board Services Crew Co-ordinator. Natalie was previously with Carnival Cruises and brings a complete understanding of the marine industry and the unique pressures it brings. She'll be working with Norfolkline, P & O and Isle of Man Steam Packet amongst others. Natalie will be looking for Deck Officers, 2nd Officers, 3rd Officers and DP Officers in particular.

Merchant Navy Staffing Shortages

May 14, 2009 10:46 by manager

Clyde Marine has witnessed significant shortages in the availability of UK Officers and Ratings. With a 40% reduction in UK Officers by 2023, and no integrated training scheme for Ratings in existence, the situation can only get worse. The UK has only 4000 Deck and Engine Ratings in comparison to Latvia which has 8000 Ratings.

To address the shortages and to ensure the continued supply of personnel to all of our client companies, Clyde Marine has established a network of offices throughout the EU. In casting a wider net and offering alternative solutions, Clyde Marine has ensured clients can continue to operate seamlessly without having to significantly change manning models. This allows our clients to concentrate on other aspects of their business in the knowledge that crewing is taken care of.

Maritime Jobs Need Filled Around the World

February 20, 2009 11:56 by manager
We recently visited Bulgaria to conduct interviews and judge the standard of applicant available; it was generally excellent. Bulgaria has a strong maritime history and Bulgarians crew all over the world. Working right across the marine sector Bulgarians are found in roro, cruise ships and conventional cargo vessels. All hold basic safety certificates such as PST, PSSR, Fire Fighting and First Aid and many hold crowd management certificates too. Their English is generally excellent and as they have experience at sea they will be a great resource for our clients to tap into when required.
